Tabletop manual baler: how to use it effectively?

The press is an essential tool for gardeners and market gardeners wishing to produce their own vegetable and flower seedlings. With the Spidmot tabletop manual press, sowing becomes simpler, faster and more environmentally friendly. Discover why this tool is an essential ally for successful sowing and optimized production.

Why use a clod press for your seedlings?

The clod press is used to form compact clods of soil without the need for plastic cups. This system offers a number of advantages:

  • An ecological alternative: No more disposable cups! Reduce your environmental impact by doing away with plastic containers.

  • Time-saving: the tool can prepare several clods (from 16 to 56, depending on the model used) in a single operation, optimizing your organization at sowing time.

  • Optimum root development: the roots of young plants explore the entire root ball and are not constrained by a rigid container, promoting uniform growth.

  • Stress-free transplanting: Unlike seedlings planted in pots, seedlings do not suffer any shock when transplanting, as the entire rootball is planted directly into the ground.

The Spidmot: a baler designed for professionals and amateurs alike

Our Spidmot model is a table-top manual clod press, designed for ease of use and efficiency. It produces uniform clods in a single movement, guaranteeing fast, precise seedbed preparation.

How to use Spidmot effectively

Using the Spidmot press is simple and accessible to all. Here are the essential steps for perfect seedlings:

1️⃣ Preparing the substrate

The choice of potting soil is essential. You need to use a special potting soil that is sufficiently moist to form solid clods. A good texture is obtained when, when squeezing a handful of soil, a light trickle of water flows between the fingers.

2️⃣ Filling the stuffing box

Place the tool in a crate and fill the Spidmot on top. Press several times to fill each compartment. Make sure the soil is well compacted to ensure that the clods stay in place.

3️⃣ Shaping and depositing rootballs

Activate the mechanism to extract the clods onto a growing tray. Each clod is pre-formed with a small hole in the center, ready to receive a seed or cutting.

4️⃣ Sowing and maintenance

Insert one seed into each hole and cover with a thin layer of potting soil, sand or vermiculite. Place your clods in an environment conducive to germination: controlled light, heat and humidity.

5️⃣ Stress-free transplanting

When your seedlings are sufficiently developed, transplant them directly into the ground without damaging the roots. Thanks to the Spidmot, the transition from sowing to planting is smooth and trauma-free for the plant.

A profitable investment for your production

With the Spidmot table-top manual pot press, you can increase productivity while reducing production costs. No need to buy buckets every year: a simple mix of potting soil and water is all you need to produce professional-quality seedlings.

🌱 Whether you're a market gardener, hobby gardener or horticulturist, the Spidmot will help you grow successful crops!
